Duchamp with Shaved Head, 1919, photograph, c. 4 x 3 in. Collection Attilio
Codognato, Venice. This photograph may have been taken in Buenos Aires by
Yvonne Chastel Crotti, either as a treatment for lice (a confidence to
Schwarz by Duchamp in a series of interviews during 1959-68) or as part of "a powerful treatment of Yvonne's" to forestall advancing hair loss. The
print first turned up in a album of photographs shown at Cordier & Ekstrom,
New York, in 1965.
