Laundress's Apron (male and female), 1959, Imitated Rectified Readymade,
two potholders c. 8 x 7 in., edition of 20. Shown here closed. The male version
opens to reveal a white cloth "penis" while the female version lifts up to reveal a patch of fur. The Duchamp found the original items in a New York City shop. The edition was made in Paris for the "Exposition Internationale
du Surrčalisme" at the Galerie Daniel Cordier in Paris, Dec. 15, 1959-Feb. 15, 1960.
