Dust Breeding, 1920, photograph by Man Ray and Marcel Duchamp,
gelatin silver print, c. 3 x 4 in. Jederman Collection, N.A. Taken with a
long exposure (while the two artists went out to dinner) under a single
unshaded bulb in Duchampís studio at 1947 Broadway, N.Y., in 1920.
The photo, resembling what Man Ray called "some strange landscape
from a bird's eye view," was published by Andrè Bretonin Littèrature,
Oct. 1, 1922, with the caption, "Behold the domain of Rrose Sèlavy."
