High-flying weathervanes
Indicating direction and ferocity of the wind, weathervanes may well be the truest bellwether of folk art. On Jan. 20, Christie's is selling more than 75 examples decorated with everything from horses to bulls - works that are certain to catch the fancy of Wall Street types and others forever testing the winds. All are from the collection of Kendra and Allan Daniel, dealers and museum consultants. Shown here is lot 482, a molded copper leaping horse weathervane that carries a presale estimate of $30,000-$50,000.
