Wille.

French family of artists of German origin. Having moved to Paris at the outset of his career, (1) Jean-Georges Wille gradually established himself as a leading engraver, initially of portraits after fashionable artists, but later turning to genre scenes. His Journal is an important source for Parisian art life in the later 18th century. Wille’s son (2) Pierre-Alexandre Wille was a painter of sentimental genre scenes in the manner of his teacher Jean-Baptiste Greuze.
