(2) Henri de Vulcop
( fl 1454; d before 1479). Brother of (1) Conrad de Vulcop. He was possibly the younger of the two brothers and is first documented in Paris in 1454 working for Queen Mary of Anjou, wife of Charles VII of France. He was charged with illuminating the miniatures in Books of Hours and other books for the Queen. He seems to have continued in her employment, working at Tours and Chinon, until her death in 1463. Henri then entered the service of Charles, Duc de Berry, and settled in Bourges. No signed or documented work by Henri is known, but he may tentatively be identified with the MASTER OF COËTIVY (see MASTERS, ANONYMOUS, AND MONOGRAMMISTS, §I), whose activities included panel painting, manuscript illumination and tapestry design.
