(2) Peter Vischer (i)
(b Nuremberg, c. 1460; d Nuremberg, 7 Jan 1529). Brass founder, son of (1) Hermann Vischer (i). After his fathers death, Peter (i) was permitted by the Nuremberg city council to head the family brass-casting foundry, which had already become one of the most prominent foundries in Germany. He was registered as a redsmith in 1489. The elegant brass candelabra (Nuremberg, St Lorenz), cast after a wood model made by a woodturner, has traditionally been regarded as his masterpiece (in the medieval sense).
