(2) Jan Vincentsz. van der Vinne [des Nageoires]
(b Haarlem, 3 Feb 1663; d Haarlem, 1 March 1721). Painter, draughtsman and etcher, son of (1) Vincent Laurentsz. van der Vinne. He trained under his father and Jan van Huchtenburg (16471733). In 1686 he travelled to England, where he produced drawings as well as paintings in the manner of van Huchtenburg that were much sought after. While there, he was friendly with the painter Jan Wyck. In 1688 Jan van der Vinne returned to Haarlem, where he lived with his brother Izaak, an engraver and book dealer. On his return Jan was principally engaged in the manufacture of silks, although he continued to paint, draw and etch. He was also active as a dealer.
