(bapt Holtschitz, nr Eisenberg, Bohemia, 5 June 1708; d Schloss Seehof, nr Bamberg, 17 June 1777). Austrian sculptor, active mainly in Germany. He probably first studied with his father, the sculptor Johann Adam Tietz (16711742), and it is likely that he visited Vienna and was influenced by the work of Lorenzo Mattielli.
