(b Florence, 17 Nov 1412; d Florence, 6 Dec 1468). Italian illuminator and ?painter. He was the most important illuminator in the circle of Fra Angelico and made a fundamental contribution to the imagery of early Renaissance choir-books. The most important of these are the documented group illuminated (144660) for the convent of S Marco, Florence, which provided illustrative models for later generations of artists.
