French family of artists of Swiss origin. (1) François Sablet and (2) Jacques Sablet were sons of the painter and picture dealer Jacob Sablet (1720–98). They both studied at the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture in Paris as pupils of Joseph-Marie Vien, François in 1768–73 and Jacques in 1772–5.
