Quinkhard, Jan Maurits
(b Rees, Cleves, 28 Jan 1688; d Amsterdam, 11 Nov 1772). Dutch painter and dealer. He was the son of Julius Quinkhard, a local portrait painter in Cleves, then part of Germany. He studied with his father for six years before moving to Amsterdam in 1710. There he continued his studies, working successively with Arnold Boonen, Christoffel Lubiniecki and Nicolaas Verkolje. In 1723 Quinkhard became a citizen of Amsterdam and remained there until his death.
