Procaccini [Percaccino; Porcaccino].

Italian family of artists. It comprised three generations of artists: (1) Ercole Procaccini (i), three of his sons—(2) Camillo Procaccini, (3) Carlantonio Procaccini and (4) Giulio Cesare Procaccini—and a grandson, (5) Ercole Procaccini (ii). Their activity covered over 100 years, from Ercole (i)’s beginnings in Bologna in the 1550s through a collective move to Milan in the mid-1580s to continued success in Lombardy well into the 1670s. The wide range of their birth dates meant that the family was not close-knit. Camillo, for instance, was some 20 years older than Giulio Cesare. Although the three brothers occasionally worked together their lives and careers were independent. Ercole (ii) consciously based his work on that of his uncles.
