(4) Teodoro della Porta
(b Rome, 1567; d Rome, 23 March 1638). Son of (3) Guglielmo della Porta. He was the only one of Guglielmos sons to work as a sculptor, but very few examples of his work survive. In 1594 he executed the bronze drapery for the allegory of Justice on the tomb of Paul III designed by Guglielmo. A gilded terracotta relief of the Entombment (1602; Rome, Gal. Spada) is signed by a monogram that was recently deciphered as Teodoros. He evidently used models from his fathers studio and attempted to improve on their style. In 1625, in collaboration with Giacomo Laurenziano ( fl 1607; d 1650), he made the funerary monument for Lucrezia Tomacelli in S Giovanni in Laterano.
