(b Warsaw, 1732; d Warsaw, 23 Aug 1817). Painter and stage designer, son of (1) Jan Jerzy Plersz. He studied painting with Szymon Czechowicz in Warsaw, with Gottfried Bernhard Goetz (170874) in Augsburg and at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna. He practised mural, easel and miniature painting. His earliest signed work (1760) was a feretory with a painting of the Visitation (Serniki, parish church). During the reign of Augustus III (Frederick-Augustus II of Saxony) he began working at the Royal Castle in Warsaw decorating the ceiling of the Chamber of Deputies (1763; destr.). He then became court painter to Stanislav Augustus Poniatowski but was not directly associated with the studio at the Royal Castle led by Marcello Bacciarelli.
