Passe, (van) de [van de Pas; Passaeus].
Dutch family of artists. They were active mainly as engravers and print publishers. Members of the family travelled and worked extensively in northern Europe. (1) Crispijn de Passe (i) trained his children (2) Simon de Passe, (3) Magdalena de Passe, (4) Crispijn de Passe (ii) and (5) Willem de Passe, and it is often difficult to distinguish the work of one member of the family from another. Their subject-matter was wide-ranging, and all were capable of designing their own prints as well as producing reproductive engravings after works by other artists.
