Paillet, Fernando
(b Esperanza, 1880; d Esperanza, 1967). Argentine photographer. For 50 years he ran his own photographic studio in his home town, using this base to document the different social classes of his time. In his systematic record of Argentine crafts he showed his ability to achieve surprising effects using only the available natural light in the dark workshops. His photographs remain of interest not just because of the changing ways of life that they record but also because of the visual subtleties resulting from the play of natural light and spatial perspective.
