Nesfield.
English family of artists. (1) William Andrews Nesfield was a prominent garden designer in the mid-19th century, specializing in decorative parterre gardens for country-house terraces and lawns. One of his sons, (2) William Eden Nesfield, trained as an architect and was largely responsible for developing the Queen Anne Revival style in the late 1860s. Another son, Markham Nesfield (b c. 1842; d London, 1874), followed his fathers profession; during his brief career he laid out the Italian garden at Regents Park, London, as well as gardens at Doddington Place (Kent), Glanusk Park (Powys) and elsewhere.
