Moral, Enrique del
(b Irapuato, Guanajuato, 20 Jan 1906; d Mexico City, 11 June 1987). Mexican architect and teacher. He graduated in 1928 from the Escuela de Arquitectura at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, where he belonged to the first generation of students under José Villagrán. Through his studies and through working in Villagráns practice, del Moral encountered Functionalism, but in his subsequent works he tried to produce designs that were in keeping with both Mexican traditions and his own personal aesthetic ideals, transcending radical functionalism and seeking an approach that was sensitive to physical, socio-economic and cultural factors.
