Master of St Auta
( fl 15225). South Netherlandish painter, active in Portugal. He was identified by van Puyvelde among the Netherlandish painters active in Portugal in the first half of the 16th century. There are influences of Antwerp Mannerism and of illuminated manuscripts and also characteristics of the Lisbon workshops in the altarpiece of St Auta (Lisbon, Mus. N. A. Ant.). It is probable that the Master represents a group of painters who were followers of or collaborators with JORGE AFONSO.
