Pseudo-Jacopino (di Francesco Bavosi dei Papazoni)
( fl c. 132060). Italian painter or group of painters. Jacopino di Francesco Bavosi was a well-documented artist active 136083 whose work has not been satisfactorily identified. In 1365 Jacopino and his son Pietro, who was also a painter ( fl 136583), were employed as junior partners of Andrea de Bartoli on frescoes for the Visconti Palace at Pavia. Attempts have been made to identify this Jacopino with the Jacobus who, in a similar collaboration with Simone dei Crocefissi, painted and signed frescoes of the Circumcision, Adoration of the Magi and Presentation in the Temple from S Apollonia, Mezzaratta (c. 1360; Bologna, Pin. N.).
