(5) (Charles-)Amédée(-Philippe) van Loo
(b Rivoli, nr Turin, ?25 Aug 1719; d Paris, 15 Nov 1795). Painter, son of (2) Jean-Baptiste van Loo. He studied with his father and at the Académie Royale, Paris; in 1738 he won the Prix de Rome. He spent three and a half years in Italy, and another two and a half with his father in Aix-en-Provence, before returning to Paris in 1745. He was received (reçu) as a full member of the Académie in 1747 and in the same year married his cousin Marie-Marguerite Lebrun, daughter of the painter Michel Lebrun (d 1753).
