(3) Jean Legros
(b Paris, 3 Oct 1671; d Saint-Germain-en-Laye, 27 Jan 1741). Painter. He was the son of (1) Pierre Legros (i) by his second wife Marie, sister of Pierre Le Pautre. A pupil of Hyacinthe Rigaud, he practised as a portrait painter; his morceau de réception for admission to the Académie Royale, a formal portrait of the sculptor Nicolas Coustou (1722; Versailles, Château), gives a good indication of his rich style and reveals his teachers influence.
