(2) Conrad Lauwers
(b Antwerp, c. 1632; d Antwerp, c. 1685). Engraver, son of (1) Nicolaes Lauwers. In the 1650s, while working in the studio of his father, with whom he probably trained, he made a number of copies of engravings by Schelte à Bolswert, chiefly after Rubens (e.g. the Four Evangelists, Hollstein, no. 6; the Four Fathers of the Church, H 7). In 1651 the Dominicans commissioned him to engrave the Entombment by Anthony van Dyck after a print by Schelte à Bolswert. In 1653 Lauwers engraved the title-page for LArciduce dAustria Fernando Carlo of Diego Lequile, published by Plantin.
