Kongmin [myong Chon; ho Yijae; Ikdang]
(b 1330; d 1374). Korean king (reg 135174), calligrapher and painter. He was the 31st king of the Koryo dynasty (9181392). His reign was marked by policies of support for the emerging Chinese Ming dynasty (13681644) against the Mongol Yuan dynasty (12791368) abroad and attempted reforms at home.
