Kaulbach.
German family of artists. Philipp Karl Friedrich Kaulbach (b Arolsen, Waldeck [now Hessen], 25 Nov 1775; d Mühlheim an der Ruhr, 10 Dec 1846) was a goldsmith, engraver and amateur painter. His two sons were (1) Wilhelm von Kaulbach and Karl Kaulbach (b Arolsen, 5 March 1808), the latter a sculptor and painter. Wilhelm von Kaulbach’s son Hermann Kaulbach (b Munich, 26 July 1846; d Munich, 9 Dec 1909) was a history and genre painter. Christian Kaulbach (1777–1847), brother of Philipp Karl Friedrich Kaulbach, was a cabinetmaker; he was the father of (2) Friedrich Kaulbach. Friedrich Kaulbach’s son Friedrich August von Kaulbach (b Munich, 2 June 1850; d Ohlstadt bei Murnau, Bavaria, 26 July 1920) was a portrait and genre painter. The following members have entries:
