(2) Cornelis de Jode
(b Antwerp, 1568; d Mons, 17 Oct 1600). Engraver and publisher, son of (1) Gerard de Jode. He studied science at Douai and travelled to Spain and elsewhere in Europe, but from 1595 at the latest he was back in Antwerp, where he joined the Guild of St Luke. Only one engraving by him is known, a portrait of Philip IV of Spain (Hollstein, no. 1), after Cornelis Schut. In 1593 de Jode reissued his fathers Speculum orbis terrarum with a cosmographic introduction.
