Hong Se-sop
(b 1832; d 1884). Korean painter of the Choson period (13921910). He was born into a family of scholars and passed the examination to become an official in the central government, taking up a post in the Royal Chancellery. It appears that he did not start painting until relatively late in his life, as there are only a few extant examples of his work.
