(4) David (Cornelisz.) de Heem
(bapt Antwerp, 27 Feb 1663; d The Hague, before 1714). Son of (2) Cornelis de Heem. There has been considerable confusion about the identification of one or more painters called David de Heem. In fact, there is only one, the son of Cornelis, who most probably taught him. David left Antwerp for The Hague after 1693 and is mentioned for the last time in a document of his widow in 1714. His work shows many similarities with his fathers, particularly during his early period. His later paintings are executed in a less painterly or a more graphic, somewhat harsh style, a development similar to that of his father.
