(2) Antonio Maria Haffner

(b Bologna, bapt 15 Oct 1654; d Genoa, 6 July 1732). Brother of (1) Enrico Giovanni Haffner. He studied with Domenico Maria Canuti, his brother’s partner in many decorative projects, and travelled with them both to Rome in 1672, afterwards moving to Genoa in 1676. He worked in Liguria and Piedmont for the rest of his life, often for the Order of the Oratorians, and became an honorary brother of that Order in 1704. He collaborated with major artists (e.g. Giovanni Andrea Carlone II, Domenico Piola, Gregorio de’ Ferrari), usually as a quadraturista, and sometimes in association with Enrico. The work he did with Carlone discloses the influence of his teacher Canuti; otherwise his style was typical of late 17th-century Genoese Baroque.

Part of the Haffner family
