Gutiérrez Cabello, Francisco
(b Bárcenas, Burgos, c. 1616; d Madrid, c. 1669). Spanish painter. It is not known when he moved to Madrid, where he resided for the greater part of his life, nor under whom he trained. He was of noble background, and documents record that he always used the title of Don. In 1639 he acquired a piece of sculpture in the public auction of the works of Vicente Carducho, and in 1658 he is recorded as testifying on behalf of Velázquez in evidence submitted before the Sevillian painter was awarded the Order of Santiago in 1659.
