Gramcko, Elsa
(b Puerto Cabello, 9 April 1925). Venezuelan painter and sculptor. She was essentially self-taught. Gramcko first exhibited geometrically abstract works, continuing to work in this style until the mid-1950s, when she turned to Art informel interpretations based on the exploration of different materials. She represented Venezuela in the fifth São Paulo Biennale in Brazil in 1959 and in the Venice Biennale in 1964. In 1968 she was awarded the Premio Nacional de Escultura at the 29th Salón Oficial Anual de Arte Venezolano. From then on she took part in numerous one-woman and group exhibitions at a national level. Her work is held in various collections throughout the Americas.
