Goldsmith, Myron
(b Chicago, IL, 15 Sept 1918). American architect. He studied architecture at the Armour Institute of Technology (BSc, 1939) and with Mies van der Rohe at the Illinois Institute of Technology (MSc, 1953), both in Chicago. His earliest architectural work was done in Miess architectural office. In Rome (Fulbright Fellowship, 19535) he studied with Pier Luigi Nervi. From 1955 he was Chief Structural Engineer at the office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill in San Francisco, transferring to their architecture department in the office in Chicago in 1958 and becoming partner in 1967. In 1961 he joined the faculty of the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) as Professor of Architecture.
