(2) Marco Sebastiano Giampiccoli

(b Venice, 18 July 1737; d Venice, 23 June 1809). Son of (1) Giuliano Giampiccoli. A mediocre artist, he produced 42 views of Venice, after Canaletto, Michele Giovanni Marieschi, Pietro Antonio Novelli (1729–1804) and Francesco del Pedro (1740–1806), and 24 views of Venetian churches. He also published a series of c. 50 etched views of panoramas and piazzas of important Italian cities, especially those in the Veneto (for examples see 1983 exh. cat., figs 222–3) and was active in the field of book illustration and cartography.
