Gheeraerts [Garrett; Geerarts; Gerards; Gheerhaerts].
Flemish family of artists, active also in England. Egbert [Hegghebaert] Gheeraerts (d 1521) was a painter in Bruges. His son (1) Marcus Gheeraerts (i) was an etcher in Bruges, Antwerp and London, where he also painted portraits. (2) Marcus Gheeraerts (ii), the son of Marcus (i), was one of the most important portrait painters in England between 1590 and 1620. The following members have entries:
