García Reinoso, Antonio
(b Cabra, Córdoba, c. 161020; d Córdoba, 12 Aug 1677). Spanish painter, designer and gilder. He trained in Jaén with Sebastián Martínez and started his career working in such small towns as Andújar, near Jaén, where he painted the large altarpiece of the Trinity with Saints for the high altar in the Capuchin church. At Martos, also near Jaén, he decorated the chapel of Jesús Nazareno and the church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario. In his middle age he established himself in Córdoba and painted religious works for churches and convents, such as that of the Capuchins and the Calced Carmelites (untraced). Ceán Bermúdez states that he was also known there as a painter of landscape works, but none have been traced. He was an able gilder and worker in estofado (relief on gilt ground), producing religious images. He also made designs for furniture, retables and silverware, for which several drawings are preserved (Córdoba, Mus. Prov. B.A.).
