Galeotti Torres, Rodolfo
(b Quetzaltenango, 4 March 1912; d Guatemala City, 22 May 1988). Guatemalan sculptor. He began his career as an apprentice to his father, Antonio Galeotti, a sculptor and marble-worker from Tuscany. When he finished his secondary education in Quetzaltenango he went to Italy, where from 1930 to 1933 he studied drawing, modelling and sculpture in marble at the Accademia di Belle Arti e Liceo Artistico in Carrara. On his return to Guatemala he made an Obelisk to Victory (h. 19 m, 19345; Quetzaltenango) and worked on the sculptural decoration in hammered cement of the Palacio de la Unión (known as the Maya Palace, 1940) in San Marcos and on the Palacio Nacional (194043) in Guatemala City.
