(b St Petersburg, 1778; d St Petersburg, 1854). Russian draughtsman and printmaker. He studied from 1785 to 1800 at the Academy of Arts in St Petersburg under the painter Mikhail Ivanov (1748–1823) and the engravers Anton Radig (c. 1719–1809) and Ignaty Klauber (1754–1817). From 1799 Galaktionov assisted Klauber in the engraving class, and from 1817 until his death he himself taught at the academy. Although working in a variety of techniques and genres, he is chiefly known for his landscape prints and for his book illustrations.
