Flipart.

French family of artists. The printmaker Jean-Charles Flipart (b Abbeville, c. 1683; d Paris, 23 May 1751), a pupil of Nicolas-Henry Tardieu, is known to have produced c. 15 engravings; he collaborated with many others on illustrated works, notably Jean-Baptiste de Monicart’s Versailles immortalisé (1720–21). He trained his three sons as printmakers: (1) Jean-Jacques Flipart and Charles-François Flipart (1730–73) worked together on several portrait engravings for Bénigne Dujardin’s and Gottfried Sellius’s L’Histoire générale des Provinces Unies (1757); (2) Charles-Joseph Flipart, who settled in Spain, was active as both engraver and painter.
