Eastlake.

English family of artists, museum officials, collectors and writers. (1) Sir Charles Lock Eastlake began his career as a painter before concentrating his interests in connoisseurship and art history. He became first Keeper, then Director of the National Gallery, London, and was President of the Royal Academy. His wife, (2) Lady Eastlake, was a prolific writer on art-historical topics. His nephew, (3) Charles Locke Eastlake, wrote several influential books on design and served as Keeper and Secretary of the National Gallery.
