Delamotte [De La Motte].

English family of artists. (1) William Delamotte was a painter in watercolours and oils, mostly topographical scenes. His brother George O. Delamotte was a landscape painter. William Alfred Delamotte ( fl 1825–55), perhaps a son of William and brother of (2) P. H. Delamotte, executed topographical watercolours (many of them engraved) in a style that is broader and more sharply delineated than that of William, with whom he is often confused; a volume of lithographs of Oxford colleges, drawn and lithographed by William Alfred, was published in 1841.
