Colla, Ettore
(b Parma, 13 Apr 1896; d Rome, 27 Dec 1968). Italian sculptor and painter. He began his artistic studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Parma in 1913 but was forced to suspend his education when called to military service two years later. Wounded and decorated in World War I, he returned in 1918 and resumed his studies. In 1922 he went to Paris, where he eventually found work in the studios of Emile-Antoine Bourdelle, Henri Laurens and Constantin Brancusi. Subsequently he travelled to Munich and worked for Wilhelm Lehmbruck. In 1925 he returned to Italy and settled in Rome.
