Cione.

Italian family of artists. The brothers (1) Andrea di Cione, (2) Nardo di Cione, (3) Matteo di Cione and (4) Jacopo di Cione were active mainly in Florence and, with the exception of Matteo, were all painters, although Andrea also distinguished himself by his works in other media. According to documentary indications the brothers were clearly on good terms, especially the two elder ones, who also collaborated on some projects. Jacopo’s presumed son, Cione di Jacopo di Cione (Jacopo di Cione the younger) ( fl 1386–1421), was also a painter, listed in the register of the Arte dei Medici e Speziali in Florence between 1386 and 1408 and in that of the Compagnia di S Luca in 1409. In 1421 he restored a fresco in the Sala dell’Udienza of the Bigallo in Florence, a work believed to have been originally painted by Agnolo Gaddi.
