Bugatti.
Italian family of artists. (1) Carlo Bugatti is best known for his highly original furniture designs. About 1904 he moved from Milan to Paris, probably to advance the careers of his sons (2) Rembrandt Bugatti and Ettore Bugatti (b Milan, 15 Sept 1881; d Paris, 21 Aug 1947). Although Rembrandt originally trained in his father’s workshop, he subsequently became a sculptor whose most common subjects were animals. Ettore revealed a talent for mechanics at an early age and went on to become internationally known as a designer of exclusive cars and racing cars. Ettore’s son Jean Bugatti (b 6 Jan 1909; d 11 Aug 1939) worked with his father as a designer until his death in a car crash. The following members have entries:
