Bréa [Brea], Louis [Lodovico; Ludovico]
( fl 14751522/3). French painter, also active in Italy. His first known work, a signed and dated triptych of the Pietà (1475) in the parish church at Cimiez, in his home town of Nice, is thoroughly Provençal in derivation, with its references to Enguerrand Quarton (in particular to the Pietà of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon; Paris, Louvre) and, in the lateral figures, to Jacques Durandi.
