German family of painters. (1) Hans Bornemann, of Hamburg, a painter of altarpieces, was the first north German to adopt the realistic style of the Netherlands. His widow, Gerburg, married Hinrik Funhof, who took over the workshop and collaborated with his stepson (2) Henrik Bornemann, who also painted ecclesiastical works.
