(2) Jean [Jean-Baptiste] Blanchard
(b after 1602; d Paris, 5 April 1665). Brother of (1) Jacques Blanchard. He probably trained with his uncle Nicolas Bollery in Paris and joined his brother in Lyon c. 16234. They travelled to Rome together, arriving in October 1624. Jean Blanchard returned to Paris in 1634. In 1637 he was appointed Peintre du Roi and in 1656 was working on the decoration of the Louvre, though what part he played is not known. In 1663 he was received (reçu) as a member of the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture, Paris, but he died before submitting his morceau de réception.
