(1) Giovanni Battista Bertucci
[Bracceschi; dei Pittori; Utili] ( fl Faenza, 1495; d Faenza, April 1516). He has been confused since the late 19th century with the Florentine painter Biagio dAntonio, who was in Faenza intermittently between 1476 and 1504. Bertucci is continuously documented in Faenza from 1495 and painted religious subject-matter only. His early works show the stylistic influence of Bernardino Pinturicchio, Pietro Perugino and Lorenzo Costa the elder, which is surprising, given that Bertucci is not documented as working outside Faenza and its environs.
