(5) Gerolamo Bassano
(b Bassano del Grappa, 3 June 1566; d Venice, 8 Nov 1621). Son of (2) Jacopo Bassano. Trained in the family workshop, in 1580 and 1581 he signed receipts for payment for the altarpiece of the Virgin with SS Apollonia and Agatha (Bassano del Grappa, Mus. Civ.), but the skilful drawing and painting technique indicate that it was executed by his father. Gerolamo also studied medicine at Padua University until at least 1592, although he never finished the course.
