Andrés de Nájera [Andrés de San Juan]
(b ?Nájera, Rioja; fl 150433). Spanish woodcarver. In 1504 he was described by Simón de Colonia as a clever and expert man in the said crafts of carving and figure-making. It is possible that he received his early training in Italy. He was much admired by his contemporaries, including Alonso Berruguete, who in 1532 regretted that he did not know him personally.
